‘Painful!’ – Kylian Mbappe Reacts to Clasico Defeat That Leaves Barcelona on Brink of La Liga Title

Kylian Mbappé, one of the biggest stars in world football and Real Madrid’s high-profile summer signing, has finally spoken out following Los Blancos’ painful defeat in the latest El Clásico—a result that may have sealed Barcelona’s grip on the 2024/25 La Liga title.

The clash, held at the Santiago Bernabéu, was billed as a potential title decider, and it certainly delivered fireworks. But not in the way Real Madrid fans had hoped. Barcelona stormed to a stunning 3-1 victory, thanks to goals from Robert Lewandowski, Pedri, and an electric late finish from Lamine Yamal, leaving Real Madrid trailing and their title hopes hanging by a thread.

Mbappé, who had been kept unusually quiet during the match by a disciplined Barça defense, took to social media shortly after the game to express his frustration.

“Painful. We gave it everything, but it wasn’t enough. This one hurts, for us and for the fans. We will fight till the end,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter), alongside a photo of himself walking off the pitch with his head down.

A Blow to the Title Race

With this victory, Barcelona now lead the La Liga standings by 7 points with just five games to go—a margin that looks increasingly unassailable. The win not only gives them a psychological edge but also puts Xavi’s men on the verge of clinching back-to-back La Liga titles.

Real Madrid’s locker room was reportedly silent after the game, with Carlo Ancelotti visibly disappointed in the post-match press conference. “We lacked precision in key moments, and Barcelona punished us,” the veteran coach admitted.

Mbappé’s Message to Madridistas

Mbappé’s words, while brief, carry weight. The Frenchman has always been known for his fighting spirit, and his message seemed to be aimed at reassuring the Real Madrid faithful that the battle isn’t over—at least not in his mind.

“We win together. We lose together. Hala Madrid always,” he added in a follow-up post.

Fans online were quick to rally behind their star, with thousands of replies praising his commitment and reminding the team of the pride and passion that comes with wearing the famous white shirt.

Barcelona Fans Rejoice

Meanwhile, the atmosphere in the Barcelona camp could not be more different. Celebrations erupted among Culers as they now smell the sweet scent of another La Liga triumph. Social media lit up with chants of “Campeones!” as Barça fans celebrated what they see as the decisive moment in the season.

Club captain Sergi Roberto said after the game, “This win shows who we are. We’re united, strong, and we’re not done yet."

With only a handful of matches left, Real Madrid would need a miracle and a complete Barcelona collapse to turn things around. While mathematically still possible, it would take something extraordinary.

For Kylian Mbappé, the focus now shifts to finishing the season strong and preparing for next year. The Frenchman remains one of the brightest talents in football, and while this season might not end with La Liga gold, his journey in Spain is only beginning.
