Barcelona Striker Pau Víctor Linked with Move to Bayer Leverkusen? Here’s What We Know

By Nwosu Chizoba David | @footballheadlyn | May 14, 2025

In the ever-evolving world of football transfers, rumors come and go like waves. One recent report catching the attention of Barcelona fans involves the young striker Pau Víctor being linked with a move to Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen. But how much truth is there to this speculation? Let’s break it down.

Who is Pau Víctor?

Pau Víctor is a 23-year-old Spanish striker who joined FC Barcelona from Girona in July 2024. Known for his sharp movement in the box and ability to link play, Pau arrived at Barça with a long-term vision, signing a deal that runs until June 2029. Although he hasn’t cemented a regular starting role under current manager Hansi Flick, he remains a promising talent within the squad.

Despite limited minutes this season, his performances in training and sporadic appearances have kept him on the radar of several clubs across Europe.

Transfer Rumors: What’s the Origin?

As of now, there are no confirmed or credible reports directly linking Pau Víctor to a move to Bayer Leverkusen. The rumors likely stem from Leverkusen’s recent transfer strategy, which has focused on securing young, technically gifted forwards who fit into their fast-paced, attacking system under manager Xabi Alonso.

Leverkusen has been active in scouting emerging talents, and while Pau fits the profile, no formal offer or contact has been reported. Therefore, any links should be treated as speculative for now.

Clubs That Have Shown Real Interest

While Leverkusen may not be in the picture, other clubs have made genuine efforts to sign the forward in recent months:

  • Real Betis: Tried to include Pau Víctor in a potential loan deal as part of talks around Vitor Roque. Barcelona declined the proposal, opting to keep the player.

  • Galatasaray: The Turkish giants reportedly made a move during the January window to bring Pau on loan. However, the deal fell through due to timing and Barcelona’s hesitance to part ways.

  • Celta de Vigo: Went as far as offering to cover his entire salary in a loan proposal, but again, Barcelona chose to hold onto their young forward.

These instances show that while Pau Víctor is a player in demand, Barcelona sees long-term value in him and has so far resisted all outside approaches.

Barcelona’s Stance

Barcelona’s current priority is to stabilize the squad under Hansi Flick, and part of that plan includes maintaining depth, especially in attacking positions. Pau Víctor, though not a starter, offers a tactical option that could be critical in rotation and injuries.

The club’s sporting director Deco is reportedly keen on giving young players time to develop rather than rushing into sales or loan deals unless it aligns with their broader strategy.

Don’t Pack His Bags Just Yet

While Pau Víctor’s talent will undoubtedly continue to attract interest, including hypothetical links to clubs like Bayer Leverkusen, there is no current indication from either camp—Barcelona or Leverkusen—that a transfer is on the table.

For now, the striker remains a Blaugrana, and unless something dramatic changes in the upcoming summer window, that’s where he’s expected to stay.
